In 2000, Mid-MO AHEC received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Volunteers in Healthcare (VIH) to create a statewide association of free clinics. The association was created to serve clinics with a mission to provide free health care to indigent and underserved populations using mainly volunteer providers. The association was designed to provide networking, collaboration, advocacy and resource development opportunities for its members.  See the VIH website at www.volunteersinhealthcare.org for information on free clinics, grants, networking and educational opportunities.
