Kids Into Health Careers

Mid-MO AHEC takes a "pipeline" approach to producing healthcare providers for the future, from youth to the practitioner. We believe youth are the solution for the future, and exposing them to careers in healthcare is a proven method to encourage their career choice as a healthcare provider. Mid-MO AHEC partners with communities to help them "grow their own" future providers through several strategies, including the ACES (AHEC Career Enhancement Scholars) program for high school and undergraduate students.

Shadowing
Mid-MO AHEC can assist you or your students with a health care provider shadowing experience. Students will see a day in the life of a physician, nurse or allied health professional. Contact us for scheduling.
To make the process faster you may download the packet and fill it out ahead of time.

Health Careers Exploration in the Classroom
Staff will come to your classroom to conduct interactive presentations for junior, middle and high school classes or undergraduate clubs. Sessions include information on academic opportunities, health careers, and financial aid sources. Contact our office to schedule a presentation for your school or fill out a request form online!

M.A.S.H. Camps
M.A.S.H. (Missouri AHEC Science and Health) Camps are an opportunity for middle school and junior high students in your community to be exposed to health careers through math and science activities. These two to five-day camps are coordinated with your local community health professionals, teachers, health departments and other resources and held in your hometown.

Privace and Security Policy

The Missouri Area Health Education (MAHEC) statewide system aims to enhance access to quality health care - particularly primary and preventative care - by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals through community/academic educational partnerships. These efforts are supported in part with funds from the Missouri DHSS; the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Bureau of Health Professionals (BHrP); and local support mechanisms. Additional information about MAHEC may be obtained at www.mahec.org
